Stream Peace’s brand new album ‘In Love’

‘In Love’ is the brilliant debut album from the English indie rock band Peace. This album has been on my wishlist ever since I first heard the gorgeous ‘California Daze’ and I’m not at all disappointed with it. Now I’ve got to resist not listening to it again before I buy it! The album will be released in the UK on the 25th of March. Pre-order it on Itunes or on the official site. But for now take a listen to the whole album at NME.

Your New favourite Artist: Melody’s Echo Chamber

When I think of Melody’s Echo Chamber I always get thoughts of a hazy summers day. Melody’s eponymous debut album, which was created together with Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) is a perfect piece of dream pop. But unlike other artists under that genre, it isn’t a boring album were all the songs sound all too similar. Melody’s Echo Chamber is something completely different. The album is hypnotic but also catchy in some instances with it’s fusion of psych-rock and sunshine pop. A perfect combination I think. It certainly is one of my favourite albums to come out of 2012.

Brand New Video: AlunaGeorge - Attracting Flies

Attracting flies is the brand new single from English duo AlunaGeorge. The music video was directed by Emili Nava and shows a modern and quite gritty take on the old fairytales we all know and love. I’m super excited to see how this charts after the success of their last single White Noise, a collaboration with electronic duo Disclosure.

Top 3 Most Beautiful Songs...

Readers, I'm going to share with you some of my all time favorite songs! Now I don't listen to loads of music, but the music that I do listen to are songs that I never grow tired of... songs that tug at my heart strings and reflect my feelings and inner emotions, but then isn't that what everyone searches for in music?- emotions that you can empathise with and relate to; whether it be happiness, heartache or frustration. So here they are... the 3 most beautiful songs:

1. Alicia Keys - If I Ain't Got You. This song has such meaningful lyrics along with Alicia Keys' heartfelt vocals which I really think is soo beautiful in this song. She sings about the most important things in life being the people you care about and not the 'superficial' material things, so true and so sweet! Alicia Keys is one of my favourite artists as all of her music inspires me. 'Empire State of Mind' (New York) Is another song with Alicia Keys which really captivated my imagination

2. Beyonce -  Listen What can I say...Beyonce is a stunning and incredibly talented artist, and not only does her amazing vocal skills reflect in this song, but it is sung with pure emotion and honesty, its soo touching!...something which many singers struggle to create through their music. Love on top is also a great feel-good song which always brightens my mood when I'm feeling low.

3. Beyonce - If I Were A Boy This song reflect the feeling of heartache when taken for granted; wishing to understand why boys have no consideration for a girls feelings. This song is timeless as it speaks for so many women who have been emotionally hurt in relationships, and so its a song that they can relate to.

Latest Album Releases–02/04/12

 

This week there are quite a few re-releases. Nicki Minaj is back with the extended edition of ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ which features new and exclusive tracks. Also British pop boy-band One Direction, are releasing a souvenir edition of their debut album ‘Up All Night’. A must have for Die Hard fans, as it includes 5 exclusive songs, a 32 page booklet and 5 picture postcards.

Labrinth also releases his debut album this week, ‘Electronic Earth’, which includes collaborations with Emeli Sandé and rapper Tinie Tempah on tracks ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’ and ‘Earthquake’.

What I’ve been listening to…

 

I’ve been so busy lately doing boring case studies and stuff for school, so I thought I’d write a little about what songs I can’t stop listening to at the moment while I’ve got a bit of spare time. :)

Marina and the Diamonds - Primadonna by Marina and The Diamonds

• After already reaching over half a million views on YouTube, I predict that Primadonna will be a big hit for Marina. The latest single from Marina is quite different to her past songs. I was a bit worried about her new direction when the last single Radioactive was released, but Primadonna is a perfect pop song and I love it!

 

Never Let Me Go

• To be honest the first time I heard this song I cried a bit, and I don’t cry at songs. Ever. That’s a compliment. This song is just so emotional and Florence’s vocals are amazing. This is one of my favourites from the album Ceremonials.

I have so many other songs to write about, so expect to see me blog about them soon!

Stylish Women in Music: Azealia Banks

 

Said to be ‘the next big thing’ by music critics, Azealia has an exciting future ahead of her. The stylish rapper from New York has already been compared to Nicki Minaj and other female rappers. Although she’s had these comparisons, Azealia has a fresh and spontaneous style which makes her stand out from the others. She was first noticed widely by her single ‘212’ and her songs have featured on the Mugler Mens fall 2012 runway show. Check out ‘212’ and the Mugler show below;

Brand New Video: Never Let Me Go - Florence + the Machine

 The music video for Florence and the Machine’s brand new single ‘Never Let Me Go’ has just been released. The music video was directed by Tabitha Denholm and stars Jamie Campbell Bower who has also been in Harry Potter and Twilight. ‘Never Let Me Go’ is one of my favourite songs from the brilliant album ‘Ceremonials’. Make sure you check out the album. It really is worth a listen!

Marina reveals new track listing and album artwork for ‘Electra Heart’

                 
Today Marina has announced the brand new tracks which will be on her second album Electra heart. The new album will feature 12 tracks including ‘Fear and Loathing’ and ‘Living Dead’. Last single ‘Radioactive’ will not feature on the standard edition.

Katy Perry’s New Single

After her divorce from ex-husband Russel Brand, the pop princess has hit back with brand new single ‘Part Of Me’. Katy premiered the new song at the Grammy’s and it will be on her new album ‘Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection’ out on March 26th. She changed the lyrics from the original song to ‘You can keep my diamond ring’ which is obviously aimed at her ex. What do you think about ‘Part Of Me’? To be honest I’m not a big fan of this, but hopefully her other new material will be better. Look below to watch the lyric video.

Latest album releases–27/02/12

The Ting Tings are back this week with their second album ‘Sounds from Nowheresville’. You might have forgot about them as they were last in the limelight around 2008. The large break was mainly due to touring and writing new material. But was it worth it? Well that’s up for you to decide, but expect pretty much the same as their debut album ‘We started nothing’; catchy choruses and shouty singing.

It’s time for the BRIT awards

I cannot wait for tomorrow! This years BRIT awards is sure to be a brilliant one. With live performances from the best of our British artists including Florence and the Machine and Adele. Also expect show stopping performances from international stars Rihanna and Bruno Mars, who are both up for international artist awards.

I’ve got a feeling Adele is going to win a lot of awards tomorrow, yet again. The singer songwriter is up for three awards and after the amazing year she’s had, I’m pretty sure she’s got a good chance of winning them all.

Latest album releases–20/02/12

This week is rather a busy one with quite a large number of albums being released tomorrow. My pick of the week though, will have to be Band of Skulls second album ‘Sweet Sour’. After falling in love with their first album ‘Baby Darling Doll Face Honey’, I couldn’t wait to hear new material. So when I heard their first single to be released from the new album, ‘The Devil Takes Care Of His Own’, I  was kind of excited, but it didn’t really grab me from the first listen. It was a grower though and now I love it. Since then they have released the brilliant single ‘Bruises’.

Solve Sundsbo–Perroquet

I love this series of photos from fashion photographer, Solve Sundsbo. 'Perroquet' is a series of colourful pictures of parrots in flight. He uses both brightly coloured and dark backgrounds to contrast with the beautiful plumage of the parrots feathers. I first saw his unique photos on the album artwork for Friendly Fires second album 'Pala', which is one of my favourite albums. The album artwork goes well with the feel of the summery album. Marina and the Diamonds tickets on sale tomorrow…

Marina is set to release her second album ‘Electra Heart’ on the 30th April. To coincide with this release she will be doing a tour in May. She will be doing 8 dates and will start at Manchester Cathedral on May 4th and finish at Cardiff Coal Exchange on May 15th. Marina is also going to release a brand new single called ‘Primadonna’ on the 4th april. Recently on her Twitter (@Marinasdiamonds) she said that she is ‘hoping to preview the song in a few weeks’. I can’t wait to hear it!
